Bear Davis
Head Coach
Robert Morris University

Kenneth “Bear” Davis enters his 6 season at Robert Morris after spending the previous four seasons as head coach at Division II Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, W.Va., where he pioneered the development of a new program. Bear led the Colonials to their best season in program history in 2009 with a 9 & 7 record in the very tough CAA.

While at Wheeling Jesuit, Davis took the Cardinals from a 2-11 record in the first year of the program in 2000 to an 8-4 record and a No. 10 national ranking in 2003. The Cardinals also had four players named to the All-West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First Team in 2003, including Jeremy Johnson, who was the first player in Wheeling Jesuit lacrosse history to score 100 career goals. Johnson also was named a second team All-American, while goalie Nick Asmo was named an honorable mention All-American.

Prior to Wheeling Jesuit, Davis spent the 1999 season as a graduate assistant coach with Division III Marietta College. Between May and July of 2002, Davis was the assistant coach of the Czech Republic men’s national lacrosse team, where he helped coach the team in the 2002 Prague Cup as well as the 2002 ILF World Games in Australia.

Away from the field as a coach, Davis founded and is the director of Big Shot Lacrosse, an organization that has held camps, clinics and tournaments throughout the Midwest since 1999. He has also been involved with Run & Shoot Lacrosse as a coach since 1996, which is a clinic for lacrosse players that holds camps in Rhode Island, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.

A native of Hilliard, Ohio, Davis is a 1997 graduate of Wilmington College, in Wilmington, Ohio, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. Davis also received his teacher’s certificate from Wright State University in 1998.

Anthony Stamatopoulos:
Head Coach
La Roche College

Pittsburgh, Nov. 6, 2009 — La Roche College has announced the addition of Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach Anthony Stamatopoulos. He will be building a varsity team for the inaugural lacrosse program at the college, which will begin its first season in academic year 2010-2011. He joins La Roche from Robert Morris University in Moon Township, Pa., where he served as director of operations – assistant coach. He is a resident of Pittsburgh.

La Roche is part of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference in NCAA Division III. The college decided to add men’s lacrosse to its varsity roster for several reasons, one of the primary ones being that the sport has been steadily gaining national popularity, according to Athletic Director Jim Tinkey. Stamatopoulos is the perfect fit as a coach to come in and build a successful program, Tinkey said, given his background and prior experience.

A native of Baltimore, MD, Anthony is a 2000 graduate of Johns Hopkins University, in Baltimore MD and 2005 graduate of Ferris State University, in Big Rapids, MI.
