Andrew McMinn begins his fourth season as an assistant coach and the defensive coordinator for the men’s lacrosse team at Robert Morris.
“With two full years under his belt and the ability to recruit his own players should make a big difference,” said coach Davis. “We look forward to the direction coach McMinn will take our team this season.”
Before joining the Colonials’ coaching staff in 2006, McMinn was a standout goaltender for the Providence College Friars of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. In three seasons as the starting goaltender, he helped lead his team to two regular-season championships, a MAAC Tournament Championship and a berth into the 2004 NCAA Tournament. He was a three-time All-MAAC selection and is the current record holder for the conference’s single-season goals against average mark.
During his career, he consistently ranked among the top goaltenders in Division I in both save percentage and goals against average. He ranked fourth nationally in goals against average in 2003 and was sixth nationally in save percentage in 2005.
Aside from his coaching duties, McMinn is an active member in the local and national lacrosse communities. He has recently served as an instructor for the Big Shot Lacrosse, Brotherhood Lacrosse, Top 205 and Blue Chip 225 Camps, as well as running the Drew McMinn Goalie Camp every summer.
