2010 Colonial Cup Men’s Lacrosse Team Camp

INTRODUCTION:
Thank you for your interest in the first annual Colonial Cup.  This event will take place on June 16th & 17th and will feature some of the best players and teams in the country. The Mini Camp will take place on the 16th and the Team Tournament Camp on the 17th. The goal is to have a top notch camp that is geared towards instruction and team tournament/college exposure. A championship tournament format, which fosters great competition, at an amazing facility will be the aim. This tournament will provide the campers with great instruction and with the opportunity to compete for the cup. In addition, the Colonial Cup will provide you and your team and opportunity to showcase your ability as an individual while playing with members of your club program or high school team.

WHY THIS EVENT?
The Colonial Cup was created for High School boys Select teams from across the country so they have the opportunity to play one another without the expense or travel to one of the East Coast events.  Last year the WPSLA (Western Pennsylvania Scholastic Lacrosse Association) team traveled to
New Jersey to play teams from Cleveland and Cincinnati. Why should teams always feel the need to incur such expense to play teams from their part of the country? That is when the conversation started about the formation of the Colonial Cup. Our mission is to use our experience as coaches and our experience in organizing leagues, clinics and camps to give lacrosse players and coaches the opportunity to be apart of an atmosphere that is typically only found on the east coast. We also wanted to provide an event that was financially reasonable for the players and parents. In addition, we wanted to provide the tools and opportunities to excel at the game of lacrosse through fun, competition, sportsmanship and honoring the game.

WHERE?
The event will take place in
Pittsburgh, PA hosted at Robert Morris University.  RMU is conveniently located between some of the traditional hot beds of lacrosse and the burgeoning areas of the Mid West. RMU’s lacrosse facilities are one of the top lacrosse facilities in the Region. The games will be played at Joe Walton Stadium, a 3000 seat, pro turf stadium that opened in 2005.  Other games may be played on the adjacent grass soccer field complex.  All fields are next to secure parking facilities and just a short walk from each other.
